Steven Merrill is a tenor vocalist who resides in Manhattan. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bradley University where he studied Multimedia, Computer Science, and Music. Mr. Merrill is a versatile performer who has performed music ranging from popular selections with the Peoria Municipal Band to sacred Catholic chant repertoire to operatic literature. He performs regularly as the tenor section leader and pontifical cantor at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Peoria, IL and he always devotes time during the summer to perform with Sugar Creek Symphony and Song in Watseka, IL. He was a member of Sugar Creek's inaugural Young Artist program in 2007 and again returned to their Young Artist program in 2008.
Mr. Merrill wass very active with vocal music in Central Illinois; over the last two years, he has performed solos with Opera Illinois, Sugar Creek Symphony and Song, Woodruff High School's Gilbert and Sullivan dinner theatre, and the Peoria Bach Festival. Notable local performances include The Gondoliers at Woodruff High School, Gianni Schicchi with Opera Illinois, Handel by Candlelight at Trinity Lutheran Church, and the title role in Handel's Belshazzar and the tenor solo in Beethoven's Mass in C Major in two separate engagements with the Bradley University Community Chorus.
